100 HR ECOSOMATIC EMBODIMENT PRACTITIONER TRAINING

Living more fully in our bodies can help us answer many of our questions regarding how to live responsibly with and on the earth.

This training is about embodiment, the human being at home, each of us in our own body.
To be present in our body is a form of awareness, and it is a first step toward being kind to ourselves and other beings, humans and non humans. In coming into our body we become connected to our greater home, the earth, we become a part of the earth and she a part of us.

What is out there is in us and what is in us is out there. The patterns that organize our own body are also found in the other organisms who are our evolutionary kin and in the living earth itself.

Embodiment is our original nature. Animals, everybody is fully embodied possibly all the time, certaintly most of the time. The tree is just moment to moment embodying its flow, there is no pause, interruption, truncation. We start at a pretty young age to interrupt our flow. It does not take many years for an infant to learn what behaviors are and arent welcome from their environment. We are being socialized from day one.

Our frontal lobes have taken over in the last several years. Our behaviors are being most prescribe by social norms and less engendered from our own bodily experiences.

Imagine. What it would feel like to dive below your social conditioning and express embodiment as it arises without this social conditioning in your body right now? This body, this sensations, no rules. Conscious or unconscious rules.

Learning is simoultaneously a leap into the new and strange and also a return to what we already know deeply.

This training is an invitation to return to our source and remember ourselves along the way.
We need to rediscover connection, connection of all kinds. To the earth beneath our firmly planted feet. To the parts of our psyches that we have allowed to become alienated, the parts that need quiet and reflection and the constant brush of the natural world that we actually evolved over long time to enjoy. The deep connection to deep satisfaction.

EcoSomatics is about relationship, about noticing and live patterns of interconnectedness, is about deepening our relationship with our body and it’s rhythms and the rhythms of the natural world. One of the intentions as we heighten sensual awareness of the environment and track our perceptual biases, is to expand our ability to respond, our response-ability, and ultimately to recognize ourselves as active participants of the world.

We ask ourselves. How best to live on this world?

By focusing on our human bodies as the vehicle through which we experience ourselves and the world around us, we learn to value the earth equally to the self.

Thus the perspective is both human-centered and earth-centered. The body and the earth are complex and profoundly interconnected entities develop through billions of years of evolutionary process. Our task is to develop a dialogue with this inherent intelligence to learn to attend. By enhancing active awareness of our bodies and the places we live, we deepen our engagement in the intricate and delightful universe we inhabit.

During this 15 day immersion we will be diving into direct experience of anatomical body systems and the weave of relationships between these and the earth. Visiting places in nature in KiekariTerra and around in order to open our senses to the natural world and recognize the experience at hand as the primary resource for learning.

In this training we learn through both objective study and subjective experience, attempting to create an integrated balance between the two, although we will be placing more emphasis on the subjective and experiential aspects of learning, because our culture tends to attribute greater value to (relatively) objective and scientific knowledge. Working in this way, we learn to trust in the value of our own knowing.

The work we will be doing here is also about learning how we learn, how we access information, make transitions from one state to another, and develop the awareness of this process. It is an approach based on direct experience and observation, where the facilitator´s own awareness and embodied experience is an essential tool in the educational, therapeutic or healing work.

Many of us have been conditioned from an early age to deny the feeling and expresiveness of our bodies. Much of our energy and aliveness is then inhibited, and we also lose access to the knowledge and wisdom that the body holds. Often we feel cut off, disassociated from our physical body, which can lead to sensations of ungroundedness, tension or weakness, discomfort, pain and lack of real and vital contact with our environment. These sensations will also be reflected in our psychological states and the health of our bodies.

EcoSomatic Embodiment Training offers a gently come back home into the body and earth and to reexperience the harmonious integration of sensation, feeling, mind and spirit that is ours by nature. We learn to listen to the body through quiet sensing work, our breath, and the use of guided imagery, and to let its wisdom guide us in an exploration of our needs. We learn to trust the body and its intuitive knowledge. Through focused touch and sensitively guided movement, areas of tension and blockage can be released and the core of inner support and strength can be reexperienced.

Our EcoSomatic Embodiment Training is a journey into:

● An experiential study of the the anatomical systems in the body and their relationship with the body of the earth – organs, muscles, bones, fluids, endocrine and nervous system, each express their own quality of movement, feeling, perception and attention.

● An exploration of our oceanic patterns, our pre-vertebrate patterns (Cellular respiration, sponging, pulsation, navel radiation, mouthing and pre-spinal movement) and spinal patterns that will help us to identify areas of personal strength and limitation; movement is repatterned as we allow the mind of our learned movement patterns to change.

● Embodiment of the Satisfaction Cycle (yield, push, reach, grasp, pull) to repattern our relationship with the flow of giving and receiving in our life.

● Greater integration, clarity, and creativity in our expression in the world.

● Have an understanding of how trauma impacts the brain, nervous system, movement, and overall the whole body.

EcoSomatic Embodiment Training is informed and inspired in the practices of Somatic Experiencing, Body Mind Movement, Continuum Movement, Movement for Trauma, Body Mind Psychotherapy, Deep Ecology, Transpersonal education, ancestral wisdom and the Earth herself.

EcoSomatic Embodiment Training is open to helping professionals who are interested in the interface between body, mind, emotions and the natural world. The fundamental focus of this training is cultivating a deep level of embodiment and it can be studied, practiced and applied in your own field of work; this includes teachers of dance, yoga, martial arts, other approaches to movement education and therapy, massage and bodywork practitioners; occupational therapists, physical therapists and psychotherapists, nurses, caregivers, and health educators; and dancers, singers, musicians, actors, and visual artists. Activist, environmentalists, outdoor guides, etc.

When I arrived on this sacred land Kiekari Terra, near Xico in Mexico, I didn’t know it would reweave my life tapestry and heal patterns I didn’t know I held. I hadn’t known my body in this life when I arrived - my bones, skin, fluids, organs, especially my feet. Each day with Maria we explored a body system and an earth system. We explored how our lungs & cells breathe, our fluids flow, our bones move, our muscles stretch & contract, our organs help us thrive, our glands regulate and our skin touches (+so much more). We observed the trees breathe, the water weave, the rocks tell stories, the sun kiss the earth, the insects digest. For the first time I truely felt my feet on the soil, the air & water on my skin, the textures of the rocks & leaves, and heard the stories of the forest & river. I wasn’t able to before because I learnt I had spent a lot of my life - my dorsal shutdown state (plus other things). My body has been protecting me in this state, but as a result I often felt disassociated, exhausted, like I was holding the worlds weight on my shoulders. During my time at Kiekari, Maria guided me on learning how to feel my body, my whole body. She taught me how to move from my body, and listen to how my body needs to be moved. She taught me how to feel sensations in my body, and to listen & acknowledge these sensations. My body awoke, and my mind softened into my body. My mind felt safe and my body danced. We dove deep into body anatomy. This deepened my understanding of the science behind my body - importantly how trauma patterns our cells. I no longer feel the weight of the world on my shoulders. I feel my bones. I feel my lungs. I feel a part of the earth. I will always hold the deepest gratitude for Maria, Allan, Kate, Juanita and the sacred land for holding me, teaching me, and guiding me through this journey.

Private One on One 100 hr EcoSomatics Embodiment Practitioner Training
"Grateful for an empowering and insightful Training" Since Maria and her appearance appealed to me very much, I decided to take the 100hr EcoSomatic Practitioner Training with her in October/November 2022. Arrived I was first flashed by the beautiful, quiet, natural place in which we were received. Away from everything and completely disconnected from the outside world. This gave us a lot of time and space to turn inward and completely dedicate ourselves to the training. The content of the training was first explained in theory, then demonstrated and finally experienced in the flesh. What was said was impressive and at the same time trying everything out and experiencing it in this way gave us the opportunity not only to be there intellectually but also to internalize what we had learned. Maria is a source of knowledge and her way of passing on this knowledge is very clear, memorable and exciting. In addition to all the materials, there was also plenty of super good food, which gave us the necessary energy. It was varied and incredibly tasty. I really appreciated and needed the fact that each participant had her own tent and a place to withdraw. Surrounded by nature there is much to discover and one of my personal highlights was my morning swim in the river right on Kiekarri. A refreshing start into the day. It was a very intense 15 days, but they definitely changed my life. I would visit again and again and recommend it to everyone. Thank you dear Maria, Kate and Alan for everything!
